Week of the Young Child

Week of the Young Child at Club Fed will be very exciting. We are having a book drive to collect gently used books through-out the whole Federal Building to begin filling our orange bookshelf which is outside the center. We will be celebrating with NAEYC this year. We will do Music Monday, Tasty Tuesday, Work Together Wednesday, Artsy Thursday, and Family Friday. We will also be inviting mystery readers to come in all week long, this can be parents, grandparents, siblings, etc. Bring your favorite book from home to share or pick one of ours! Watch for sign-ups in each classroom as we get closer. Each classroom will also be making their own classroom book, this book will celebrate families and what they do at home together. Each family will be asked to make a page together at home and bring it in to help make the book. We will then read it together during the Family Friday celebration. Camp Laurel Oak and Mighty Redwood will be sending letters to famous authors, hoping to get a note back to the classroom.  And as always, there will be posters outside of each classroom, so that you can write to your child’s teacher a note of appreciation of their fine work with your child.  It will be an exciting week for all! Finally, we will celebrate our children that have read 100 books since September. 100 books certifications will be handed out and those children will receive special recognition for their efforts. If your family has made sure that your children read 120 books on your own (without the use of our lending library), please let us know so that we can celebrate their achievement too!
